Rodger L. Smith graduated Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech in 1973. He earned his JD at George Mason University and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1977. He was later admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1978, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court Eastern and Western District of Virginia.
He was also a County Attorney for Page County, VA for 27 years. He has been in private practice of law for the past 38 years.

J. Parker Gochenour recently graduated from The University of Virginia School of Law. Parker also received his Bachelor's degree in 2011 from the University of Virginia. While at the law school he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, was the Vice President of Communications for the Virginia Law and Business Society, and was Business Director for the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. He has also served as an intern for the Page County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, and the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Virginia. He was previously employed by the Department of the Army, First Cavalry Division, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the University of Virginia School of Law, Governor Robert F. McDonnell, Natural Resources Secretariat, and Governor L. Douglas Wilder.
